Starting an at-home research project

01

Virtual or no mentor

Be prepared to work without a mentor, although you can certainly find a virtual one on your own. Many questions will have to be answered through your own searches.

02

Suitable project

Find your focus – you will need a research project that is feasible at home. You cannot plan experiments that will require advanced laboratory machinery or hazardous chemicals.

03

Long-term planning

Understand that these are long term projects so plan to use areas that can hold your research projects for extended periods of time. Depending on your experiments, make sure the places you do your research have the required amenities. For example, do not plan to grow plants in areas that do not have access to sunlight.
