Our Story

Jason and Miah started this nonprofit after realizing that while the number of high school students choosing to get involved in research has been increasing, the rate at which this has happened is still underwhelmingly slow.

Furthermore, they were driven to act by the idea that among those getting involved in research, the common denominator was many of them had privileges such as family/friend connections to work in laboratories, research programs at their own high schools, or the resources to enroll with outside organizations. Recognizing that the vast majority of students in America do not have access to these things but still hold great potential as future scientists, The Youth STEM Network was created as a way to foster the growth of the high school research community in an equitable manner.

Vision Statement

We hope that our robust network will foster a diverse community of HS scholars committed to intellectual exploration, collaboration, and the pursuit of challenges facing our world.

A message from the co-founders:

The Youth STEM Connection strives is committed to helping HS students of all backgrounds thrive in a diverse research community by providing them with the skills and resources they need to succeed. We hope that our robust platform will prove most useful to students from underserved communities with unequal access to resources and opportunities, bringing forth equitable solutions to different challenges they may face and fostering inclusivity in the research arena.
